Matar paneer is a delicious dish made by cooking paneer and peas in a Tikka Masala Curry. This recipe will give you a restaurant style creamy and rich matar paneer. It tastes amazing to serve with rice or garlic naan bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp oil 
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds 
  • 1 onion, finely chopped 
  • 2 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp garlic, minced
  • ½ jar Patak’s® Tikka Masala Curry Spice Paste  
  • 2 ½ cups of water, divided
  • ⅛ cup tomato, chopped 
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste 
  • 1 block (14 oz) paneer cut into cubes 
  • ½ cup frozen peas 
  • Salt, to taste 
  • ½ cup heavy cream (+ more for garnish)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in the multifunction pressure cooker on “Sauté” setting. 
  2. Add the cumin seeds and allow to sizzle. 
  3. Add the onion and cook until light brown. 
  4. Add the ginger and garlic and cook for 1 min. 
  5. Add the Patak’s® Tikka Masala Curry Spice Paste and ½ cup of water, and sauté for 1 min. 
  6. Cook until most of the water has evaporated. 
  7. Add the tomatoes and tomato paste, and cook for 2 min. 
  8. Add the remaining 2 cups of water, paneer and peas, and cook for 10 min. 
  9. Add the cream and cook for 2 min. 
  10. Season to taste. 
  11. Garnish with cream and cilantro.
